Edzard Oltmanns was born in 1970 in Leer, Germany, and studied chemistry and industrial engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer and at the University of Sunderland (UK).
He was employed at an internationally active shipping company (Triton Schiffahrts GmbH) from 1999 to 2018, at first as Director of Finance/Controlling and from 2007 as Managing Director.
The shipping company is part of an international corporate group that is specialized in the worldwide transport of highly perishable goods on seagoing vessels. Edzard Oltmanns' main responsibilities were in the areas of finance and human resources (in particular the staffing on ships).
